This book is a compilation of essays, personal stories and short fiction that we (the authors) use to explain the principles and practices of withstanding the lie.
In the book, we discuss the mental and emotional hurt and the loss of self-esteem you suffer when others commit acts of bigotry against you. We explain that you can protect yourself from mental and emotional hurt and the loss of self-esteem by treating the bigoted behavior of others as a lie and the bigot as a liar. We discuss what you can do to protect yourself from negative self-judgment. We explain that ultimately you must detach yourself from the attributes and identities in life that you and other people use to judge you inferior.
Your opinion of yourself plays a fundamental role in determining the overall course and quality of your life. And there is no greater negative influence on what you think and feel about yourself, and ultimately what you do with your life than the disparaging treatment and bigoted attitudes of others that you encounter. Therefore, protecting yourself from the mental and emotional hurt and the loss of self-esteem due to the bigotry of others should be one of your highest priorities.
