Pilot Workshop

We are offering our first workshop this fall (2010) in Classroom 1, First Church of Christ, Congregational, 190 Court Street, Middletown, CT 06457.   Classes will be held every Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon for six weeks (beginning Saturday, September 25 and ending Saturday, October 30, 2010).  More information about the workshop can be found on the workshop page. Social Problems' Class
Middlesex Community College

Roger and Nicole spoke about their ideas and their book to a social problems' class on Thursday, March 11 at Middlesex Community College in Middletown, CT.  The exchange of ideas between the students and speakers was informative and engaging.  Roger and Nicole thank Professor Felton for the invitation and opportunity to speak to the class.

Adult Class on Withstanding the Lie
Authors at Middlesex Community College

As part of its Fall schedule of courses, the Middlesex Institute for Lifelong Education (MILE) of Middletown, Connecticut offered a two-hour class presentation called Withstanding the Lie on Monday, October 12, 2009 from 1-3 p.m. The class was facilitated by Roger and Nicole.

Held in Chapman Hall at Middlesex Community College, 100 Training Hill Road, Middletown, CT, the class was well attended and the authors and participants engaged in some lively and meaningful discussion.

Guest Speakers
Authors at Levi E. Coe Library Association Annual Meeting

Roger and Nicole were the guest speakers at the annual meeting of the Levi E. Coe Library Association in Middlefield, Connecticut on September 9, 2009. After a brief presentation about the book and the reason for writing it, they answered some questions from the audience.

Book Signing
Authors at Horton's Books & Gifts

Roger and Nicole signed books at Horton's Books & Gifts in Carrollton, GA on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. It was a homecoming for Roger who grew up in Carroll County Georgia and many friends and family members went by to chat and have books signed. Horton's Books and Gifts is located at 410 Adamson Square in Carrollton, GA

Keynote Speaker
Authors at Blue and Gold Banquet

Introduced by Nicole, Roger was the keynote speaker at the annual Blue and Gold Banquet held by Carver High Museum & Archives of West Georgia, Inc. (CHMA).   The banquet is an annual event and this year it recognized the teachers and administrators of the past black segregated schools in Carroll County Georgia. Roger is a 1964 graduate of Carver High. About 160 people were in attendance. The event was held at the Maple Street Mansion, 401 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA.

President's Committee on Diversity (PCOD) Program

Middlesex Community College

Roger and Nicole spoke to students, faculty and the general public at Middlesex Community College on Wednesday, February 18, 2009 in the Student Lounge in Founder's Hall. Nicole and Roger discussed the principles and practices outlined in their book as well as some of the experiences that led them to write the book. The talk and the question and answer session that followed were well attended. Middlesex Community College is located at 100 Training Hill Road in Middletown, CT.

Nicole and Roger were available at Burgundy Books in Haddam, CT to sign books and answer questions on December 13, 2008.  Also on hand was Denning Powell, one-half of another father-daughter writing team.

Roger and Nicole signed books and later made a presentation at Levi E. Coe Library in Middlefield, CT.  The authors spoke to members of the community about the reason for writing the book and also gave a brief description of some of the ideas presented in the book. A question and answer session followed.
